8-Year-Old Raises £1,500 for Care Home in Memory of Great Nanna

Stichell House Residential Care Home in Greatham, Hartlepool has been deeply moved and inspired by the incredible efforts of Lucy May Drummond, an 8-year-old girl who walked around her block 1,000 times over the course of 12 days earlier this year, before and after school, to raise funds in memory of her beloved Great Nanna, May.

Nanna May was a cherished resident of Stichell House until her passing in March 2024. Wanting to do something special in her honour, Lucy set herself a goal to raise £100 for the residents’ activity fund. Through her determination and the support of her family, Lucy raised an extraordinary £1,500.

With the funds, Lucy has launched “May’s” – a mobile shop on wheels, filled with handpicked items for the residents to purchase and enjoy. The shop is a lasting tribute to her Great Nanna and will bring joy and independence to residents.

Lawrence McAnelly, Director said "We are incredibly proud of Lucy and overwhelmed by her thoughtfulness and dedication. Her fundraising journey and the creation of ‘May’s’ shop is a truly touching legacy and a testament to the love she had for her great grandmother."

Lucy compassion and commitment have brought smiles to many and will continue to make a difference in the lives of residents at Stichell House for years to come. Lucy has made a big difference with her small feet and even bigger heart.
